COS ATCT is located on Peterson Air Force Base immediately adjacent to COS airport in Colorado Springs, CO, in the shadow (at least in the evening) of Pikes Peak. Colorado Springs, located on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in central Colorado, has a metropolitan population of over 500,000 and is served by numerous air carriers.

COS ATCT is not perfect. But it has to be ONE of the nicest places in the country to work. The view alone is worth coming to work for. The city and the state offer a wide variety of opportunities for nearly any life style. We currently have 32 controllers of which 8 are in training. Our traffic consists of numerous air carriers, legions of general aviation, a smattering of itinerant military, as well as soaring, sky-diving and flight training at the nearby Air Force Academy. In addition to the USAF Academy, Colorado Springs is home to NORAD (Cheyenne Mountain), Space Command and Fort Carson. While the military plays a significant role in the local economy it is by no means the only factor. IBM, Hewlett-Packard, MCI, Lockheed-Martin-Marietta, Quantam, Digital, Current, Focus on the Family, Navigators, US Olympic Committee, US Olympic Training Center, USAA Insurance and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association are just a few of the organizations that are either headquartered or have major facilities in Colorado Springs.

As of March 1, 2008, our Local officers are:

President: Vance Kauffman

Vice-President: Tim Davis

Sec-Treas: Michael Turner
